Man Baker Acted after Surrendering to Orange Deputies

A man who was armed and making threats near the St. Johns River on Wednesday, has surrendered to Orange County deputies.

Deputies said the man was then Baker Acted.

The incident, which began around 11:15 a.m., sprung out of a domestic incident between the man and his wife in the City of Belle.   Deputies said, the man then began making threats and driving his pick-up truck in a grassy area near the St. Johns River.

A deputy, called to the scene because he knew the man, was able to get him to surrender, peacefully.

Throughout the incident, officers were not threatened and there were no shots fired.

State Road 50, which was closed in both directions during the incident, has now been reopened.
