A passenger who car jacked and robbed a cab driver at gunpoint on Dr. Phillips Boulevard on Tuesday, has been arrested.
David J. Sebastian was arrested on Friday, one day before his 47th birthday, by the Orange County Robbery detectives.
Investigators said that a Central Florida News 13 viewer recognized the suspect during a newscast as deputies were actively searching for him shortly after the robbery. Detectives learned that Sebastian frequented the area where the robbery occurred and had been actively trying to locate him since receiving the top.
Sebastian was located by an Orange County Sheriff’s deputy near Turkey Lake and Sand Lake on Friday, November 19, and taken into custody without incident.
Sebastian is suspected of carjacking a cab driver and robbing him at gunpoint on November 16, after the cab driver picked him up. After driving Sebastian (the suspect) to the Wal-Mart at 8990 Turkey Lake Road, the cab driver drove him to a shopping plaza in the 7500 block Sand Lake Road, where he was robbed and car jacked.
Sebastian was taken to the Orange County Jail where he is expected to be charged with armed robbery and car jacking.
