A Volusia County man who crashed his pickup truck into a GMC van and killed a couple on December 24, has been arrested following an eight-month long investigation.
According to law enforcement officers, Brett and Renee Gerken were killed in a traffic crash on Taylor Road and Spruce View Way around 11:00 pm, on Christmas Eve night in December 2009.
The husband and wife were killed when the 2003 GMC van they were riding in was struck by a 2001 Ford pickup truck that was driving on the wrong side of the road.
Christopher Thomas Price, 36 years, was behind the wheel of the pickup truck.  Toxicology reports have confirmed that Price was driving under the influence of xanax, cannabis and oxycodone.
Florida Highway Patrol issued a warrant for Price’s arrest on August 26, 2010.
He was arrested by the Daytona Police Department on Friday and booked into the Volusia County Jail.
Price has been charged with two counts of DUI Manslaughter. Bond has been set at $50,000 each. He is also being charged with DUI property damage and driving on the wrong side of the road.
