Man Arrested for Winter Park Residential Burglaries

Winter Park Police, in conjunction with Orange County Sheriff’s Office, arrested a suspect connected with a recent string of residential burglaries in the Winter Park community.

After a series of residential burglaries along the Phelps corridor of Winter Park, the Winter Park Police Street Crimes unit recently initiated a surveillance operation within the affected community. During the course of the operation, officers heard two loud bangs in the vicinity.

Upon investigation they encountered a suspect fleeing an unoccupied home. The suspect attempted to leave the scene by car.

In an attempt to flee, the suspect rammed an unmarked officer’s vehicle. According to local law enforcement, a BOLO (be on the lookout) was issued to neighboring jurisdictions. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office encountered the vehicle, after a brief pursuit the suspect bailed from the vehicle and attempted to flee.

The suspect has been identified as Joel Rosario. He was apprehended by deputies. Rosario was charged with Aggravated Battery on LEO, Burglary, Criminal Mischief, Resist LEO with Violence, and Flee/Elude LEO.

According to law enforcement, Rosario also remains the suspect in three other burglaries, all of which took place over the course of five days.




Investigators have not identified a connection between the suspect and the victims at this time. There were no reports of injuries during the incident.

Winter Park Police released the booking photo of the suspect, along with patrol unit the suspect hit.
