Man Arrested for Shooting at Central Florida McDonald’s

A 25-year-old man was arrested for the nonfatal shooting of an 18-year-old at a Central Florida McDonald’s.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man for his role in a nonfatal shooting that occurred on January 15th, at a McDonald’s located in Brandon, near Tampa (502 West Brandon Blvd).

Deputies arrested 25-year-old Monte Outlaw after completing an investigation of the shooting, which left 18-year-old Jeremiah Lawson in the hospital.

Lawson and Outlaw met outside the McDonald’s. They had planned to use the internet and charge their devices inside when some type of argument transpired, causing Outlaw to reach into his waistband, pull out a firearm, and shoot Lawson in the nose. It has been determined the firearm was a BB gun.

Lawson received treatment for his injury at Tampa General Hospital.

Outlaw has now been arrested more than three times in six months, and has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (x2)
  • Grand Theft Third Degree
  • Battery Second or Subsequent Offense

“I’m appalled this man chose to turn his argument violent, and I’m proud of our deputies’ swift investigation and arrest,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This man will have a long time to think about his actions in the confines of the Falkenburg Road Jail.”

This investigation is ongoing, according to law enforcement.
