A 90-year-old woman is recovering after she was robbed and dragged in the parking lot of a Publix Supermarket, deputies said.
27-year-old Jose Luis Delgado-Pastrana, of Clermont Drive in Kissimmee, has been charged with robbery and aggravated battery of the elderly woman.
On Monday night, the woman told deputies upon leaving the Publix Supermarket at 3343 South Orange Blossom Trail in Kissimme, she was approached by an unknown male, later identified as Delgado-Pastrana, driving a red Jeep Cherokee.
Delgado-Pastrana asked the woman for money, but when she told him she didn’t have any, that’s when he grabbed her purse which was still on her shoulder and began driving away.
The woman, who was dragged about 15 feet, was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for several broken bones and road rash.
Witnesses were able to identify Delgado-Pastrana’s vehicle and investigators tracked him down in the area.
Deputies recovered the woman’s purse and he was positively identified by the victim.
Delgado-Pastrana was booked into the Osceola County Jail on robbery and aggravated battery charges.
