A DeLand man was arrested early Sunday morning for leaving a 3-year-old child alone in a GMC pickup truck, while he drank and partied at a gentlemen’s club.
Jordan Caraway, 25, was taken into custody and jailed. Â He has been charged with child neglect.
Caraway was drinking and partying at Dixie’s Gentlemen’s Club, north of Deland shortly after 1:00 a.m., when witnesses spotted a child left alone in a truck. Witnesses also told investigators that Caraway was at the Club’s bar for about 20-30 minutes.
When investigators caught up with Caraway, he told them he had left another man to watch the little boy. But, witnesses say, both Caraway and the man were in the bar together.
Investigators say, the boy was crying hysterically when they arrived, had grease and dirt on him and his clothes were dirty.
Another witness reported seeing a child alone in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Club, earlier on Saturday night, but when cops arrived, the vehicle was gone. It is believed that Caraway left the child alone in the vehicle, earlier that night.
Caraway was arrested and booked into the Volusia County Jail.
