Byran Gavini--charged with soliciting sex with a minor over the Internet

On February 11, 2010 at approximately 1:35 PM an investigator with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Sexual Offender Squad was logged on to a computer chat room as a 14 year old girl when he was contacted by a 40 year old Connecticut man who engaged the investigator in an internet chat.

During the course of his chat with the “14 year old girl” the suspect solicited the detective for various sexual acts.  During the chat the suspect activated his webcam, disrobed, and committed a lewd act in the presence of his chat partner whom he believed was a 14 year old girl.  In addition the suspect told the detective that he would pay the cab fare if “she” would come to his hotel for a liaison.

After obtaining and affirming the location of their suspect, detectives from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Sexual Offender Squad responded to the suspect’s room at the Orlando Peabody Hotel on International Drive and arrested him.  The suspect’s computer was seized and will be forensically examined when a search warrant is secured.

The suspect, identified as Byran Gavini, 40 years, has been charged with Solicitation of a Minor via the Internet and Transmitting Harmful Material to a Minor. He has been transported to and booked into the Orange County Jail.
