Magic’s Landman-Gonzalez receives Don Quijote Award

Orlando Magic Vice President of Community Relations and Government Affairs Linda Landman-Gonzalez was honored at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce/Hispanic Business Initiative Fund of Florida, Inc. Don Quijote Awards receiving the Hispanic Community Champion award at the ceremony on Saturday, December 5 at Walt Disney World’s World Showcase Pavillion at Epcot.  Landman-Gonzalez received the award in honor of her efforts and commitment to the Central Florida community.

In her role with the Magic, Landman-Gonzalez oversees community relations, government affairs, multicultural insights and the Orlando Magic Youth Fund.  Prior to coming to the Magic, Landman-Gonzalez spent nine years as director of diversity, community and government relations for Darden Restaurants, Orlando’s only Fortune 500 corporation.

Landman-Gonzalez is currently involved in several volunteer and leadership activities, including The Central Florida Transportation Corridors Task Force, Florida State Conference NAACP Corporate Advisory Board, African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida, Casa de Mexico, Business Force, WMFE Board of Trustees, and is a Trustee of the City of Orlando’s Children’s Trust Committee.  She is chair elect of Valencia Community College Foundation and the immediate past president of Orlando Ballet.  Landman-Gonzalez also serves on the Board of Fifth Third Bank and was appointed by Governor Crist in February 2009 to serve on the Early Learning Coalition of Orange County.

The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando and the Hispanic Business Initiative Fund of Florida, Inc. host the Don Quijote Awards to recognize the most outstanding Hispanic entrepreneurs and professionals of the year.  This marks the 12th year of the awards.

The Don Quijote award celebrates the strength of character, the conviction, the virtues and the dreams of this beloved character of Spanish literature.  Born from the desire to honor these characteristics in Central Florida Hispanic entrepreneurs, the awards are bestowed upon businessmen and women whose efforts have translated into success.
