Magic Backcourt Hold X-mas Auction for Charity

WHAT:             Orlando Magic Backcourt Holiday Trees for Charity

The Backcourt will be auctioning off trees at the December 2, Magic vs. Knicks matchup.  Each tree has a different theme and will raise money for a local charity.  The trees will be on display during the game and the silent auction will be held outside section 117.  Trees up for auction include:

“Sweet Lew Tree”, presented by Rashard Lewis and Giovanni Fortes, which features a jersey, shoes, picture and ornament autographed by Rashard Lewis as an autographed Dwight Howard photo.  All proceeds for this tree will be donated to the Gift for Swimming, which provides access to drowning prevention resources and education to the community’s underprivileged or otherwise disadvantaged.

“Florida Gators Tree” presented by Jason and Denika Williams, which features items autographed by former Gator greats Jason Williams, Mike Miller and Udonis Haslem as well as Head Coach Billy Donovan and the 2009-10 Gator men’s basketball team.  An autographed Dwight Howard photograph is also included.  All proceeds for this tree will be donated to Pet Rescue by Judy, a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue of cats and dogs.

“Charity Cars Tree” presented by Jameer and Imani Nelson, which features a youth Magic jersey and a Magic Christmas stocking autographed by Jameer Nelson, as well as a food gift basket and an autographed Dwight Howard photograph.  All proceeds will be donated to Charity Cars to help provide free vehicles and vehicle support services to assist disadvantaged families in their transition to self-sufficiency.

“Orlando Magic Coaches for Causes Tree” presented by Stan and Kim Van Gundy and the Magic coaching staff**, which features individually signed ornaments by the coaches as well as a coaching staff autographed basketball.  The ornaments decorating this tree were purchased through the Greater Good Network, and all proceeds will be donated to the Orlando Magic Youth Fund to help serve at-risk and disadvantaged youth in Central Florida.  **This tree will be auctioned off on an “on air” auction and not at section 117.

“Sand, Sun and Surf Tree” presented by Vince Carter and Michelle Carter-Scott, which features a shoe, jersey and pictures autographed by Vince Carter as well as an autographed Dwight Howard photo.  All proceeds will be donated to the Girls Advocacy Project, the only comprehensive prevention/intervention/education project in the state specifically serving girls while they are detained in a juvenile detention center.

The Orlando Magic Backcourt was created by the Orlando Magic players, coaches and basketball operation’s wives, girlfriends and family members as a way to give back to the community.
