Magic and Fox Sports Team Up for On-Air Auction

The Orlando Magic and FOX Sports Florida are teaming for an inaugural on-air television auction benefiting the Orlando Magic Youth Fund, a fund of the McCormick Foundation, during the Dec. 2 game against the New York Knicks. Auction items will be available for viewing on OrlandoMagic.com and FOXSportsFlorida.com and will also be highlighted throughout the night’s telecast, which begins at 6:00 p.m. with the “Magic LIVE” pregame show. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Orlando Magic Youth Fund.

The Orlando Magic Youth Fund, a fund of the McCormick Foundation, is committed to helping every child in Central Florida realize their full potential, especially those most at risk, by supporting programs and partnerships that empower families and change lives. Since its inception, nearly $15 million has been granted to Central Florida non-profit organizations. The OMYF’s fundraising efforts enable the fund to provide scholarships and grants to charitable organizations throughout Central Florida. This year, OMYF checks were presented to 27 grantee organizations from nine counties. With funds raised by the OMYF, and the match provided by the McCormick Foundation, a total of $750,000 in grants and scholarships were distributed to the community in 2008-09 through the OMYF.

Fans interested in bidding will be given instructions on the number to call during the telecast, and the call center will be manned by volunteers, including Magic Dancers and Orlando Magic Community Ambassadors Nick Anderson and Bo Outlaw.  FOX Sports Florida’s Paul Kennedy will serve as on-air host for the special auction telecast.
