LYNX, Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority, will receive just over $1 million dollars under the Veterans Transportation and Community Living Initiative project, U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced Wednesday.
The $1.06 million grant will be used by LYNX to overhaul its GoLYNX website and implement a new customer information system to include a one call service. The monies will also be used to place transportation information kiosks throughout the city.
A technical advisory group, composed of Homeless Services, United Way, VSO and other agencies will help design the new system.
LYNX grants funds are part of a larger packet of $34.6 million from the Federal government, for 55 projects in 32 states to enhance access to local, affordable transportation services for military families and spouses, and wounded warriors.
