LYNX Gets $3.3M in Fed Transportation Grant

Florida is set to receive federal grant funds in the amount of $39 million for several transportaton projects across the state, U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced Monday.

The monies are part of $928.5 million in federal funds for more than 300 public transportation projects in the urban, surburban and rural areas, which will help renovate and build much needed transit facilities, manufacture new clean-fuel buses and support planning for future transit needs.

LYNX, Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority is being awarded a total of $3.3 million, of which $2 million will be spent on the Kissimmee Intermodal Transfer Center and $1.2 million on a State Road 50/UCF Connector Alternatives Analysis.

Other grants included $9 million for the Gainesville Regional Transit System Facility expansion and $4.6 million for South Florida Regional Transportation Authority for alternative fuel shuttle bus fleet procurement.
