Lynum Responds to WDBO’s Race Bait Attack

To whom it may concern:

I am in receipt of a transcript of your August 21, 2007 morning broadcast where you state that Juan Lynum’s company, Excel Development, LLC is involved in a lawsuit against the City of Apopka.  Further, the broadcast led listeners to believe that Attorney Juan Lynum, in his individual capacity is a party to the lawsuit.  Lastly, the broadcast stated that Attorney Juan Lynum was making the allegations.
My clients, who own the company, demand that WDBO-AM retract the false statements that were published yesterday morning.  In addition, they want an apology during the same broadcast. In my individual capacity, I demand that WDBO-AM retract the statement and issue an apology to me, individually, for publishing the false statements about my involvement.
It is unfortunate that WDBO-AM would resort to fabricating a story without first substantiating it.  It is unfortunate that three Black professionals who felt they were wronged by the City of Apopka, hire this attorney, then hear a publication over the radio that their attorney owns the company and that their attorney is making the allegations in the complaint.  In case you don’t know, attorneys file lawsuits on behalf of their clients, represent entities and individuals, and generally have no knowledge of their client’s allegations until they are retained on the matter.
In my opinion, WDBO-AM’s actions are nothing short of a hate crime that incites racial tension through lies.  Your station intentionally and deliberately published false information without any regard to its veracity.  My clients were harmed and I was harmed by your blatant disregard for the truth.  Your station is responsible for instigating racial tension in our community by publishing information that it knows or should have known to be false.
You have 24 hours from receipt of this letter to comply with the demands herein or my clients will be advised of all legal remedies available.  As well, I will personally

seek legal remedies under the provisions of law that protect attorneys from your reckless and wrongful behavior.

PLEASE BE GOVERNED ACCORDINGLY

Sincerely,

E. Juan Lynum, Esq.
