Local Podcast Discusses Orlando Municipal Elections in Districts 1, 3, 5

A local podcast, BS with Joe, recently discussed the upcoming City of Orlando municipal elections in Districts 1, 3 and 5 and asked “who really runs Orlando?”

According to the description, the episode covers “the candidates, the money, and the issues shaping this election — without the lawn sign spin. From Lake Nona’s growth in District 1, to the wide-open race in District 3, to the heated showdown in District 5 — these are the seats that will impact housing, safety, and redevelopment in Orlando.”

Several candidates are seeking local office in the upcoming Orlando municipal elections.

In District 1, incumbent Commissioner Jim Gray is running against Democrat Tom Keen, and Sunshine Grund.

In District 3, it is an open seat because Commissioner Robert Stuart is finally retiring, and candidates include Roger Chapin, Mira Tanna, Samuel Chambers, Chris Durant, and Kimberly Kiss.

In District 5, suspended former Commissioner Regina Hill is running to get her seat back against Interim Commissioner Shan Rose and Lawanna Gelzer.

Election Day is November 4, 2025 and polls will be open 7am to 7pm. Early Voting will be October 27th to November 2nd at select times at the Orange County Supervisor of Elections office on Kaley St. The deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot is October 23rd.

This is one of the many conversations happening as voters get ready to cast ballots in what is expected to be another low turnout election in Orlando.
