Writers Fest Goes Over Big

The Central Orlando library recently showcased local authors during a meet, greet, speaking, and signing session. For those sensing the written word is a thing of the past, think again. During a crowd-filled afternoon, visitors were introduced to a wide array of topics and personalities.

The Mis-Tails of Mooshca and the Little Wekiva River

Didn’t happen to make it downtown, not to fret as the following outlines a few local resources missed and how you can connect.

Dirty Jane
When author Amy Mitchell was a little girl, her grandma nicknamed her “Dirty Jane” because she never liked to take showers. Since then, she conjured up images of the “Dirty Jane” series, a girl with long curled fingernails, a grimy face, and bugs that waved hello from inside her mouth. Now, Amy brings humor and adventure to young readers everywhere in her debut children’s book. Wondering if Jane will ever take a bath? Reach out to Amy at www.authoramymitchell.com to find out. Who knows, perhaps the story will remind you of someone you know… or could it be you?

Legacy Blade: The Search
Created by Jose Santiago for his children and as a challenge to himself. Completing this book was a huge undertaking for Jose for many reasons, but, in his own words, “he had to do it.” He felt compelled to prove to himself, his family, and others that anything is possible when you believe in yourself, no matter how fallible it may seem. If you have any questions and/or wish to do a review on Legacy Blade: The Search, feel free to email Jose at [email protected].

Woe: My People Perish
Written by Jerado Gaulden Sr. His work is a Christian based inspirational memoir where addresses issues plaguing our youths and neighbors. The story is also about fathers, education, self-limited thinking, drug and alcohol addiction, bad associations, and much more. From Jerado, “It’s a goal to inspire our young men and women as well as adults who have fallen down and need a boost.” Go to www.woeawareness.com for additional insight.

Dunnisai and the Covenant of the Ancestors
Penned by Christopher Obie who, in his words, “enjoys stories that highlight human triumph” and “always looks for heroes that speak to the best that humanity has to offer.” The title character represents the type of hero that the author always looked for while growing up but could rarely find. It is the story of an African boy who discovers that has been gifted with fantastic powers which must be used for the betterment of the world. Copies may be found at www.ancestral-light.com.
