A local 71-year-old Homosassa doctor was arrested, accused of trafficking in prescription drugs over the past several years.
Gordon Bunker, 71, a doctor of osteopathy, has been charged with one count of criminal conspiracy and two counts of trafficking in hydrocodone, Citrus County Sheriff’s deputies said.
Investigators went to Bunker’s offices at 5311 S. Suncoast Boulevard, with a search warrant hand, as well as a second offsite location, to record an inventory of all the controlled substances. There were huge discrepancies in the doctor’s inventory of drugs, investigators said.
Bunker was selling large quantities of the controlled substance to street-level dealers and deputies were able to make multiple undercover controlled purchases of prescription hydrocodone pills throughout the country.
Thousands of pills were exchanged during these transactions and using various investigative techniques, these pills were tracked back to Bunker and his medical offices, investigators said.
Bunker was arrested just before noon on Tuesday. Bond was set at $1.5 million.
