Junior Achievement of Central Florida (JA) recently kicked off its annual Bowl-A-Thon fundraiser where local companies form teams, find sponsors and bowl at local alleys to raise funds. Companies can support JA by participating in the 2011 Bowl-A-Thon this year. Teams consist of at least 10 bowlers – and there’s no limit on team size.
Events will take place throughout the spring at bowling centers across Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Volusia and Lake counties.
In 2010, nearly 9,000 bowlers in Central Florida raised more than $870,000 to support JA programs.
“For the past 20 years, hundreds of local companies and thousands of volunteers have participated in JA’s Bowl-A-Thon,” said Sylvia Bova, director of development at JA of Central Florida. “It also serves as a fun team builder for companies. As one of our primary sources of funding along with corporate gifts, Bowl-A-Thon helps us raise the dollars necessary to deliver JA’s curriculum to Central Florida classrooms. The programs we provide focus on financial literacy, workforce readiness and entrepreneurship.”
