The Florida Department of Health (DOH) has named Lisa McCafferty, R.S., MPH as the Administrator of the Department of Health in Citrus County. McCafferty most recently served as Public Health Officer and Director for Ionia County Public Health Department in Ionia, Michigan, where she collaborated with stakeholders to meet the public’s health needs.
“Ms. McCafferty has an extensive health background spanning both the private and public sector,” said Dr. John Armstrong, State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health. “Her focus on grassroots prevention will advance public health for the people of Citrus County.”
McCafferty began her career as an Environmental Sanitarian working at the county level in both Pennsylvania and Michigan. She later became coordinator of five water monitoring projects in Michigan. She served as Director of Regional Services and Corporate Training at NSF International, where she developed and launched an international consensus initiative integrating quality management systems precepts with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control principles (HACCP) and food hygiene practices. McCafferty has also served as the Agency Administrator and Deputy Director for Luce-Mackinac-Alger-Schoolcraft District Health Department/Bayshore Home Nursing.
McCafferty attained a Bachelor of Science in Natural Sciences and Zoology from Michigan State University. She received a Masters of Public Health and a Certificate of Epidemiology from the University of Michigan.
