The Libertarian Party of Florida (LPF) strongly condemned President Joe Biden for his “reckless moves and warmongering tactics that undermine peace and stability.” The Libertarians said that rather than working towards de-escalation and peaceful resolutions in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, President Biden’s actions only exacerbate tensions and perpetuate violence – and risk nuclear war.
Of great concern is the deployment of active duty military to Europe as well as the recent revelation that President Biden has authorized the shipment of cluster bombs to Ukraine, despite over 120 countries having banned their use. Cluster bombs have been widely recognized as indiscriminate weapons that cause significant harm to civilians, posing a grave violation of humanitarian principles, LPF pointed out. Such a decision by President Biden is “unacceptable and must be condemned,” the Florida Libertarian Party said.
Instead, LPF is advocating for non-interventionism and the principle of self-determination for all nations. The party has called on the United States to leave NATO immediately and withdraw all troops from Europe, which is controversial for Democrats and Republicans. The Libertarian Party of Florida also advocates for the closure of all U.S. military bases located outside the United States, another issue that has very limited support among both major parties.
“It is high time for our nation to set an example by ending its involvement in foreign conflicts and redirecting resources towards domestic priorities,” the Libertarian Party of Florida stated.
LPF added that President Biden’s actions “only serve to stoke tensions and enrich the Military Industrial Complex.”
“The time has come for the United States to reevaluate its role in global conflicts and prioritize the well-being of its own citizens,” said Josh Hlavka, Chair of the Libertarian Party of Florida. “We urge President Biden to rethink his reckless approach and focus on peaceful solutions that respect the sovereignty of other nations.”
The Libertarian Party of Florida (LPF) said they are committed to individual liberty, limited government, and free markets. The party said it advocates for policies that protect personal freedoms and promote a society based on voluntary exchange and cooperation.
Progressive members of the U.S. House of Representatives, including Orlando’s Rep. Maxwell Alejandro Frost, also issued a statement against President Biden’s transfer of cluster munitions to Ukraine.
