Lehrer, Crowley, Schieffer to Moderate Presidential Debates

The Commission on Presidential Debates (CDC) announced Monday, the moderators for the 2012 general election presidential and vice presidential debates.

Jim Lehrer, Executive Editor of the PBS NewsHour will kick off the first debate on October 3, from Denver, Colorado. This first debate will focus on domestic policy and topics will be selected and announced several weeks before the debate.

On October 16, the second presidential debate, which will be a town meeting, is being moderated by Candy Crowley, Chief Political Correspondent, CNN and Anchor, CNN’s State of the Union. This debate will be at Hofstra University, in Hempstead, New York. Citizens will be allowed to ask questions of the candidates on foreign and domestic issues.

The third presidential debate will be moderated by Bob Schieffer, Chief Washington Correspondent, CBS News and Moderator, Face the Nation. This will be on October 22, at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. This debate will focus on foreign policy.

Martha Raddatz, Senior Foreign Affairs Correspondent, ABC News, will host the vice presidential on October 11, at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky.
