Orange County deputies have released more details in the shooting death of Windermere Police Officer Robert German.
Officer German, who had just turned 31, was murdered just before 4:00 a.m., on Saturday morning, after he initiated a “subject stop” of two individuals – a white man and white woman – in the area of Horizon Circle and Conroy-Windermere Road.
Officer German called for back up and had provided his location, but when the first OCSO deputy arrived, he was lying on the roadway, mortally wounded. At the same time, shots were heard in the area.
A total of four Orange County Sheriff’s deputies, one Orlando Police Officer and one Ocoee Police Officer participated in a tactical rescue – using a patrol car to shield Officer German and get him out of the area.
The group of law enforcement officers then met up with OCFR paramedics, who transported Officer German to ORMC while rendering aid. Officer German was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound at ORMC.
Shortly after, the unnamed couple were discovered dead in some under brush near 9350 Conroy/Windermere Road, investigators said. The couple likely committed suicide, OCSO also said.
The identities of the deceased individuals have not been released.
The OCSO Homicide Unit is investigating the murder of Officer German.
