LaRosa to Replace Disgraced Horner in House District 42

Mike Horner

Real estate developer Michael LaRosa was chosen by Republicans to replace disgraced Mike Horner in the race for House District 42 in central Florida, the party announced.

LaRosa, the son of a Cuban immigrant, was chosen by state executive committee members from Osceola and Polk counties to replace Horner, a Kissimmee Republican House member who unexpectedly dropped his re-election bid last week after being named in connection with a prostitution investigation.

Horner hasn’t been charged with any crimes, but elected to leave the race after news reports linked him to the probe.

LaRosa will face Democrat Eileen Game in the race for the seat.

Questions are being raised as to whether Horner should publicly apologize to his constituents and if its appropriate for him to remain as President of the Osceola Chamber of Commence.
