A Lakeland police officer died early this morning, after being shot in the head on Sunday night.
Officer Arnulfo Crispin, 25 years, underwent emergency surgery at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center, but subsequently doctors told his family that the officer would not recover from his injuries, cfnews13.com reports.
Officer Crispin, who had been with the Lakeland Police Department for 18 months, was checking out three suspicious subjects in the 1900 block of Cyrstal Grove Lane just after 10: 00 p.m., when he was shot by accused, 19-year-old, Kyle Williams.
Police launched a massive man-hunt for Williams who was arrested on Monday.
Williams has been charged with first degree murder of a law enforcement officer with a firearm.
A statement from the Lakeland Police Department described Officer Crispin as a “good and highly motivated officer” who conducted himself “well on the job.”
