The Lake County Department of Economic Development & Community Services is presenting a Fair Housing Seminar on Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Lake County Agricultural Center, located at 1951 Woodlea Road in Tavares.
The free seminar will include many of the housing-assistance programs offered by Lake County, such as Section 8 Housing, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) and the State Housing Initiative Program (SHIP).
Applications for the SHIP programs — home-purchase assistance, housing rehabilitation & replacement and foreclosure prevention — will be available during the seminar. Applicants will placed on a waiting list. Lake County anticipates having $1.3 million available in SHIP funds after Sept. 1. Eligible applicants for the SHIP programs must have incomes below 120 percent of the area media income as per family size.
