Park rangers invite residents and visitors to a number of free events coming up that showcase the wildlife and vegetation of Lake County’s reserves and conservation areas.
· Bird & Butterfly Survey
7 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 12
PEAR Park Wildlife Conservation area, 4800 University Ave., Leesburg
Participate in this month’s survey to assist park rangers in monitoring the site’s diversity as we conduct restoration and land management.
· Woodland Wander
8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13
Lake May Reserve, County Road 44A, Eustis
Meander through the reserve guided by a park ranger, to learn about the plants and animals at this 136-acre property.
· PEAR Association’s Native Plant Sale
8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13
PEAR Park Nature Center, 4800 University Ave., Leesburg
The Annual Native Plant Sale offers the opportunity to purchase from a diverse selection of native plants for all landscape and soil types. Proceeds benefit the PEAR Association, a volunteer group that assists with conservation efforts at PEAR Park.
To maximize the outdoor experience, participants are encouraged to bring binoculars, field guides, water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat and hiking shoes.
