Lake County seeks to expand base of vendors, urges online registration

j0316779[1]The Lake County Board of County Commissioners is always looking to spend taxpayers’ money wisely. One way this can be achieved is through the competitive bidding process when it comes to purchasing goods and services from vendors.

“Becoming a registered vendor is the best way a local business can become aware of BCC bidding opportunities,” said Barnett Schwartzman, Lake CountyProcurement manager.

By offering convenient and free online registration for businesses owners interested in working with the county, the county hopes to increase its base of competitive vendors willing and able to provide a range of services.

Upon registration, businesses will automatically receive an email notice when the county issues a formal solicitation for a good or service that matches the commodity codes selected. Potential vendors will then be directed to a website where they can review and download a copy of the solicitation.

Lake County’s online vendor registration saves business owners time spent constantly checking on the county’s purchasing needs. Registration also helps ensure that as many vendors as possible are given the opportunity to bid on projects.

To register as a potential vendor with the Lake County BCC:

  • Log on to www.lakecountyfl.gov/procurement.
  • Click on “Register as a Vendor” in the left navigation panel to be taken to the Vendor Registration Form.
  • Vendors should select all commodity codes that apply.

Businesses will only receive notices for solicitations that match the specific codes selected. A vendor does not have to register to participate in the county’s purchasing program. The public may still view and download all the information included on the county’s procurement website at www.lakecountyfl.gov/procurement.
