The scouting report on the Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University detailed a team with a 0-15 record coming into this contest, but it didn’t detail the feistiness of NCCU’s squad.

Bethune-Cookman (7-8, 2-1 MEAC) opened the game with a 9-0 run, scoring on their first three possessions, and ran away with their fifth win in their last eight games. N.C. Central stays on the goose egg at (0-16 overall (0-3 MEAC).

“After having such a good program win Saturday, it was big for us to not come out tonight flat,” Head Coach Vanessa Blair said. “You have to guard against complacency.”

From the jump, Terrenisha Hollis had the hot hand. The junior from Birmingham, Ala earned her first career double-double to lead Bethune-Cookman in a 55-32, Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) game, Monday night inside Richard V. Moore Gymnasium.

Sharp-shooters; Chastity René Taylor and Terrenisha Hollis each collected double-figures as B-CU shot 50 percent from the field and 80 percent from beyond the arc in the first half. The Lady Wildcats held a 34-12 cushion at the break and never allowed their advantage to fall below 17. You have to dig how they scored 15 points off 12 Lady Eagles turnovers. This screams DEFENSE all in your ears!

B-CU did not allow NCCU to score for the final 4:43.

The Lady Cats return to the road this weekend, traveling first to Orangeburg, S.C. to face South Carolina State (10-5, 2-2 MEAC) on Saturday at 2 p.m. Folks that is a hostile environment. Stay tuned.
