Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the Central Florida Affiliate, has awarded a grant of $50,000 each to Health Care Center for the Homeless and to Ribbon Riders Inc.

At Health Care Center for the Homeless, the grant from Komen for the Cure will support the Femmes de Coeur Mammography Program, providing free mammograms to patients from Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties. The program ensures that homeless patients and uninsured patients have access to regular screenings. It involves an early detection approach with screenings available to the patients at no cost.

The other $50,000 grant will support The Ribbon Riders Breast Cancer Assistance Project, an initiative to help breast cancer patients with immediate needs by providing direct financial aid. The program will involve financial assistance for rent, utilities, gasoline, groceries and other needs.
