A Kissimmee man is in jail, charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of his sister’s boyfriend, police said.

20-year-old Henry Gonzalez-Galey is being held in the Osceola County Jail on no bond, as police say, he is responsible for the death of Henry Antonio Ortiz-Reyes, 25.

Investigators learned that Gonzalez-Galay, his sister, Maria Gonzalez and her boyfriend Ortiz-Reyes were all together in a vehicle when the three stopped to purchase gas at the Shell Gas Station at 2201 West Columbia Avenue just before 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

Maria told investigators Ortiz-Reyes was driving and when she returned after paying for gas inside the store, found Ortiz-Reyes lying on the ground by the passenger side of the vehicle.  Maria and her brother drove Ortiz-Reyes, who was suffering from a gunshot wound, to a local area hospital, where he [Ortiz-Reyes] dies as a result of his injuries.

Gonzalez-Galay, who cooperated with detectives, said Ortiz-Reyes had removed a revolver from a book bag when Maria went into the gas station.  He said he [Henry] took the gun from Ortiz-Reyes and put his finger within the gun’s trigger guard and accidentally fired it, striking Ortiz-Reyes.

Police said too, Henry emptied the ammunition from the gun, discarded the gun in a dumpster at the hospital and disposed of the ammunition in some bushes.  The gun and ammunition were recovered by detectives.

Gonzalez-Galay was charged with manslaughter and tampering with physical evidence.
