More than 36 hours after a major fire broke out at the Vacation Lodge Hotel on US 192 in Kissimmee on Sunday night, its ruins still smolder.
The fire, which razed the hotel to the ground, has displaced more than 150 persons, several of whom suffered from smoke inhalation and had to be taken to local area hospitals.
Officials of the state Fire Marshal’s Office are expected to begin their investigation shortly.
According to new reports, the hotel had been previously cited earlier this year for certain violations, including an unmonitored sprinkler system, empty fire extinguishers and blocked fire hydrants.
