K9 apprehends and bites pharmacy robber

A man jumped the pharmacy counter at a Publix supermarket located at 3400 Avalon Park East Boulevard on May 20th and stole undisclosed prescription medications.  He threatened witnesses by implying he had a weapon and then fled the store on foot.

Witnesses, including an Orange County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer, directed responding deputies to an area approximately 150 yards away from the Publix where the suspect was last seen.

The suspect was located by a Sheriff’s K9 unit near where he was last seen trying to flee in waist-deep water shortly after the noon hour.  The suspect received a dog bite during the apprehension.

The Primrose School and the Avalon Park Elementary School were locked down at about 11:20 AM while deputies searched nearby for the suspect.    The lockdowns were rescinded at about 12:22 PM.

The suspect, Ryan Ramundo (04.03.83), has been charged with one count of robbery with a weapon.
