Just Fork It Restaurant/Café

Every once in a while I am in the mood for a good veggie burger but, given my office location, can’t always seem to find the right place. Several years ago I ventured the neighborhood and visited a dive looking place called Just Fork It (1200 Lee Road here in Orlando). Needless to say, I was not impressed.

A few weeks ago I was cruising down Lee Road searching for a bite and passed the place ventured years ago. Feeling brave, I turned my 2002 Frontier around, pulled into the parking lot, and decided everyplace deserved a second chance. Little did I know but a new set of owners and operators took over this establishment shortly after my initial distraction. Come to find out, the tiny place called Just Fork It served some mighty fine veggie burgers (not too mention a few meaty items kept pace and now, after several more visits, has become a regular stop).

With pen in hand and belly full, I found out the new owners, the Kaiver family, moved to Florida about 20 years ago and now call Orlando their home. Being the kind of guy I am, I asked for a quick ditty and received the following:

Who needs a knife when you can just fork it! Fresh fast breakfasts, homemade dinners, hot soups, grilled sandwiches for lunch, the way mama would prepare if she had the time.”

The Kaiver’s, Janet and Bernie, are dedicated to good food, faith, and family. I call that the three F’s. As it turns out, their boys, Eric, Mathew, and Andy have been in the food industry for a combined 28 years.

Daily lunch specials range from $4.99 to $6.95 while their regular breakfast and lunch menu prices range from a few bucks to $6.96 (several choices at their highest price, including Roast Beef Manhattan, Steak Burger, and Beef Enchilada). Dinner is served from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm (closed on Sunday) and sports a reasonably priced menu ($6.95 Burger to $11.95 NY Strip).

Sometimes it’s worth a second look and for those who have not yet, it may be worth a first look when you are in the mood for some home-style cooking (and that includes a nice slew of vegetarian dishes). The Kaiver family can be reached at 407.601.7729 or visit their web presence at www.justforkitcafe.com (no doubt their blend of items may suit the need of a catering situation—yes, they do that too).

Sitting with fork in hand, I am…
