Jury convicts man at center of Internet cafe scandal

url-12-300x178Late on Friday, a jury found the man at the center of the Allied Veterans of the World Internet cafe scandal, guilty.

Kelly Mathis, a Jacksonville attorney was convicted of racketeering, possessing illegal slot machines, and running illegal lotteries.

Earlier this year, the multi-million dollar illegal gambling scheme forced Florida Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll, who once owned a public relations firm that represented Allied Veterans of the World, from office.  The investigation also led to the arrest of 56 other people in March, earlier this year.
