Junior Achievement of Central Florida recently honored three of its members with Bronze Leadership Awards for providing superior leadership and outstanding support for Junior Achievement.
The three are: Ronald Blocker, Superintendent, Orange County Public Schools; Christine Callahan, Accountant; and Michel Champagne, Vice President of Operations/General Manager Bright House Networks.
Ronald Blocker, Superintendent, Orange County Public Schools – Blocker has been a member of the Junior Achievement of Central Florida Board for 11 years. Under his leadership, Orange County has become the top county in the state for Junior Achievement student impact. Blocker as also worked closely with the JA board to develop the unique public/private partnership for the JA Academy for Leadership and Entrepreneurship, which will open as a magnet school at Oak Ridge High School in the fall of 2012.
Christine Callahan, Accountant – Since joining the board in 2005, Christine Callahan has been an advocate for increasing high school programs. Not only does she teach classes herself year after year, but she is one of JA’s best volunteer recruiters. In addition to her classroom activities, Callahan became Treasurer in 2011, and during her term led a new budgeting process that resulted in significant advantages to the organization.
Michel Champagne, Vice President of Operations/General Manager Bright House Networks – Champagne has served in a variety of leadership roles since joining JA’s board in 2007. He served as the 2010 Hall of Fame chair and currently serves as one of the co-chairs of the 50th Anniversary Committee. Champagne is actively involved in making plans for the JA Academy of Leadership and Entrepreneurship.
