Attorney E. Juan Lynum today announced his candidacy for Orlando City Commissioner of District 5, Orlando, saying “I am running because it is in this community’s best interest to sustain the programs and initiatives that Commissioner Daisy Lynum established and for us to build on that foundation.”

“I love District 5. I was born and raised here. This is my home,” said Lynum. “I am also running because I want my daughter, our next generation, to be proud to call this community her home.”

Lynum is a trial and appellate attorney and son of current Orlando City Commissioner, Daisy Lynum. Lynum has served as a political consultant to Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and has served on two municipal boards.

“I’m excited about this campaign and encouraged by all of my friends, family and supporters who have encouraged me to run,” he said.

Lynum’s campaign slogan is “Continuing a Legacy of Leadership,” a reference to Commissioner Lynum’s achievements regarding the Blueprint that has ensured inclusion of local minority contractors in the development of our community venues, providing training to residents to take on these new jobs, and creating more opportunities for future business and partnerships.

As a Jones High School graduate, Lynum especially likes the medical careers partnership programs because of its focus on Jones High and its feeder Schools. “We are going to have more Jones High School students better prepared in math and science to take on life sciences and healthcare jobs whether it be a doctor, technician or a nurse,” says Lynum.

He has a vision that continues advocacy and partnerships with the city, the housing authority, HUD, and Habitat for Humanity to provide more affordable housing in District 5. Lynum wants our families to live in safer communities where the bad guys will not feel comfortable. He wants to maintain effective community policing and neighborhood watch partnerships. Lynum is committed to working with OPD and other law enforcement agencies and programs.
