The Rev. Jesse Jackson will join ACLU Florida leaders and community activists for a series of rallies and workshops surrounding the passage earlier this year of HB 1355, which tightens restrictions on voting.
Jackson will travel to Orlando, Eatonville and Tampa with ACLU President Howard Simon and others to raise opposition to the measure now under review by the U.S. Department of Justice.
Critics contend, among other things, that the law makes it harder for voters to cast provisional ballots or make last-minute address changes.
Jackson’s whistle-stop will begin with a 7:30 p.m. rally in Orlando at the New Covenant Baptist Church and end Tuesday with a rally in Tampa.
