Florida quarterback Jameis Winston has been suspended for the first half of Saturday’s game against Clemson this weekend for shouting an obscene sexual phrase in the middle of campus Tuesday, ESPN reports.
Winston screamed, “F*** her right in the p***y,” while people around him appeared to find him funny, according to TMZ.
FSU interim president Dr. Garnett S. Stokes and athletic director Stan Wilcox denounced Winston’s “offensive and vulgar” behavior in a statement Wednesday to announce the punishment, ESPN also reported.
“As the university’s most visible ambassadors, student-athletes at Florida State are expected to uphold at all times high standards of integrity and behavior that reflect well upon themselves, their families, coaches, teammates, the Department of Athletics and Florida State University,” the joint statement said. “Student-athletes are expected to act in a way that reflects dignity and respect for others.”
Winston has a history of running into problems. Earlier he was convicted of stealing crab legs and on another occasion was alleged to have stolen soda from Burger King. Â He was also accused of raping a student, although no charges were ever brought against him.
