Jailhouse Guard Ensnared in Casey’s Web, More Stuff for the Toilet

An Orange County Jail house guard has been suspended with pay for passing more than 50 letters from Casey Anthony to another inmate in jail.

According to news reports, Silvia Hernandez facilitated the passing of more than 258 pages of correspondence to Robin Adams, a convicted drug dealer serving time in the Orange County jail.  Adams told authorities that Hernandez passed the notes and letters from Anthony to her, a matter which is currently under investigation.

Investigators would not comment on the contents of the letters but, there is speculation they could contain damaging evidence related to the murder of Anthony’s  2-year-old daughter, Caylee.

Judge Stan Strickland must now rule on whether the notes and letters would be sealed or made public.

Meanwhile, Anthony is due back in court next Monday. Her defense team has filed a motion to get EquuSearch to hand over information on more than 32 volunteers who were involved in the search for 2-year-old Caylee before her remains were found.  The Anthony defense team has suggested that EquuSearch volunteers searched the wooded area where Caylee was found but did not find the body, as it was placed there after the search was conducted.

EquuSearch has said that 32 volunteers searched the woods in the vicinity where Caylee was found, but not the exact area, as it was under water at the time of their search.

Meanwhile, attorney at law, Mark NeJame who represents EquuSearch, in responding to the defense’s motion stated that, he opened his doors for the Anthony defense team to review documentation of the organization’s volunteers, but they never picked up or inspected documents.

“The Defendant, through her counsel, is unnecessarily wasting this Honorable Court’s time, the taxpayer’s money and the undersigned’s resources by filing these frivolous motions,” NeJame said in his response to the defense’s motion.

Anthony is charged with first degree murder in the death of her toddler, Caylee.  If convicted she could face the death penalty. She sits in the Orange County Jail awaiting trial which is now set to begin in May 2011.
