Local public figures are taking to the stage of The Garden Theatre on selected nights for their celebrity roles in The Music Man, a self-produced musical with a cast of about 60 performers.
Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs will perform her walk-on role as the farmer’s wife during the song “Iowa Stubborn” in the second scene of the musical, on Saturday, May 12, at 8:00 p.m.
“As mayor, one of my top priorities is economic development and the arts are vital to our rich quality of life providing entertainment, jobs and dollars spent at local businesses, ” Jacobs said of her upcoming role in The Music Man. “I’m happy to play a small part to draw attention to the great value added by the arts to our community.”
The Music Man is the third self-produced musical in as many years at the Garden Theatre, following The Sound of Music last season. Its large cast of performers and dozens of crew members allow for a great deal of community involvement.
Located in the heart of historic downtown Winter Garden on Plant Street, the Garden Theatre is a not-for-profit community organization committed to enriching, engaging, and entertaining through creative experiences.
