Voters are still recovering from one of the longest and most expensive election cycles yet, but in Orange County, the 2014 election cycle is already here.

In an exclusive interview with West Orlando News, Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs outlined many of her priorities and hinted that many reforms and initiatives could take eight years to accomplish. When asked directly if that meant she was planning to run for re-election, Mayor Jacobs jumped in mid-question.

“Oh gosh yes, absolutely,” said Mayor Jacobs. “Absolutely.”

Earlier in the interview, Mayor Jacobs mentioned that “some things do take time to materialize” and reflected on a personal story between her and another county manager when she was first elected to mayor’s office.

“I told him that changing the culture of the organization was a major goal of mine and he said ‘that takes eight to ten years.’ I said well, it can’t because, I have term limits and I only have eight years so we’re going to have to revise that time frame.”
