Jacobs Dismisses Segal, Says its About People, Not Bigshots

Teresa Jacobs, a front-runner in the race for Orange County Mayor, brushed off recent endorsements of Bill Segal, telling the West Orlando News, in an exclusive interview that, “We are not running a campaign on political endorsements; we are not running a campaign on trade group endorsements”.

Dismissing the recent Segal announcements of support from key African American legislators and business leaders, Jacobs says,  “I really don’t think it’s about a handful of political or community leaders deciding the direction of Orange County. Maybe it has been that way for years and in a way that is what I am running to change.”

Jacobs, a former County Commissioner, added that this is about the people of the County, not some big shots.

“This is about the people of Orange County.  So the groups of Hispanics and African Americans that I am talking to have real solutions”, Jacobs observed. “They are not the figureheads, they are the people. That’s who I want to represent, that’s who we are talking to and that is part of my campaign.”

Jacobs is adamant about changing the culture of Orange County, making it more inclusive and more open to its citizens.  It would be one of her first priorities, she says, if elected Mayor of Orange County.
