The Florida Lottery recently announced that Joseph Martin, of Jacksonville, claimed a $1 million prize from the 500X The Cash scratch-off game.
The Duval County man chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000.
Martin purchased his winning ticket from Gate, located at 8020 Collins Road in Jacksonville. The retailer received a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning scratch-off ticket.
He claimed his winning prize at the Lottery’s Jacksonville District Office.
The $50 500X The Cash scratch-off game features a top prize of $25 million, the largest ever offered on a Florida scratch-off game, and the best odds to become an instant millionaire. There is one top prize remaining according to the Florida Lottery.
With more than $1.66 billion in cash prizes, this game’s overall odds of winning are 1-in-4.23.
Scratch-off games are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, comprising approximately 74 percent of ticket sales in fiscal year 2023-2024. Additionally, since inception, scratch-off games have awarded more than $65.5 billion in prizes, created 2,283 millionaires, and generated more than $19.80 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF).
