Is this the end of Bishop Eddie Long?

There are news reports that Bishop Eddie Long, accused of repeatedly coercing several young men to have sex with him, could be stepping down from his megachurch New Birth Missionary Baptist, after all.  On Thursday, through a spokesperson, Long has said he would be addressing the allegations made by at least three, now four young men, on Sunday.  But apparently that has changed.

According to Bossip:

BOSSIP has learned from a well-placed source within the Church that AT LEAST 30 young men have contacted BJ Bernstein, the lawyer who filed the civil suit on behalf of Anthony Flagg, Maurice Robinson and Jamal Parris, and both Long and the Church are fearful more are coming.   A fourth young man, Spencer Le Grande 22, has just come forward accusing Long of the same misdeeds as the other accusers.

Our source also tells us that Long had initially planned to step down from the Church today, however, with plans to address the congregation in this Sunday’s sermon it’s likely that he will announce his decision to take a reprieve from his duties when he is at the pulpit on Sunday.

An outspoken critic of gays and homosexuals, the lawsuits claim that Bishop Long “used his authority” over the men to “ultimately bring them to a point of engaging in a sexual relationship.”
