State Rep. Darryl Rouson, likely the future House Democratic leader for the 2015-2016 legislative term, is no longer with the powerhouse Tampa law firm, Morgan & Morgan, tampbay.com reported.

But perhaps, more significantly, Rouson, a high-roller who earned as much as $565,000 annually from “For the People” could be in financial straits again, the paper also reported.

Rouson, who admitted to being addicted to crack cocaine, is behind 3 years on his property tax payments on a Townhouse in Tallahassee, and he failed to disclose either the property or the mortgage on his 2010 financial disclosure statements, according to tampabay.com.

In both cases, Rouson said, “It was an oversight.”

  1. What a preposterous piece of speculation! You come perilously close to the “You spot it, you’ve got it” syndrome. There is not a SHRED of evidence that Darryl is abusing drugs. Quite the opposite. Not only has he succeeded over more than 15 years. He is also taking bold action as a policymaker, a leader in the legal profession, and in other roles to give others the best chance to others of achieving the clean life that he has — by strength of character and the grace of God — established for himself. Letting your imagination run wild is one thing. Turning these wild notions into purported news or even published opinion is quite another. It is damaging, dishonest, and degrading not just to an individual but to the communities that he serves with passion and brilliance. What is your real agenda here?
