President Obama would have wanted passage of the new health care reform bill before Congress takes its month long break in early August, but that will not happen.
Senate majority leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) said at a Capitol Hill press conference on Thursday that, the Senate will not vote on any measure before September.
According to Reid, “In working with Republicans, one of the things they asked is that they have more time. The decision was made to give them more time, and I don’t think that’s unreasonable.”
But Reid had some harsh words for his Republician colleagues whom he accused of using “code words, scare tactics and sound bites” to obscure the arguments on reforming the health care system, thereby delaying action. “This is about families with real diseases, real medical bill and real fears,” Reid said.
