The Seminole County dad who stormed a school bus, screaming, swearing and threatening kids in defense of his 13-year-old child, whom he said had been bullied repeatedly, on Tuesday apologized for his actions.
James Willie Jones, 42, said in a news conference yesterday that, while he could not stand to see his daughter suffer anymore from the bullying she received, also apologized for his actions. Jones said he was sorry for his “inappropriate use of language and for the way I handled the situation”, reports the Associated Press.
He explained that his daughter suffers from cerebral palsy and was defenseless against the bullying from the other children on the school bus.
Jones said that he had appealed for help from the School Board in dealing with the situation, but may not have used the appropriate channels to do so.
School administrators said they had not been notified of any bullying that was taking place.
Jones was arrested for disorderly conduct and faces misdemeanor charges for the incident which occurred on September 3, in Sanford. He later posted bond of $2,000 and was released.
