Investigation of 4-Year-Old Child’s Death in Central Florida

There is an active law enforcement investigation of a 4-year-old child’s death in Central Florida.




The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the homicide investigation of a 4-year-old child in Wimauma, south of Tampa. The Sheriff’s office provided an update on March 4th after the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the manner of death to be a homicide.

“This is a heartbreaking case, and our detectives are working tirelessly to determine the events that led to this tragedy,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We are committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring anyone responsible is held fully accountable.”

On February 20, 2026, at approximately 3:30pm, deputies responded to the 2500 block of Tee Time Road. When deputies arrived, they located a child suffering from upper body trauma, which resulted in death.

This remains an active investigation, according to local law enforcement.
