Dr. Terry Mamounas, M.D., M.P.H. has joined MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando as Medical Director of the hospital’s Comprehensive Breast Program. Dr. Mamounas is an internationally known breast surgical oncologist and cancer researcher. Since 1997, he has chaired the Breast Cancer Committee of the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP), a leading organization in breast cancer research.
In his leadership role, Dr. Mamounas will oversee MD Anderson – Orlando’s multidisciplinary breast cancer program. Prior to coming to Orlando, Dr. Mamounas was Medical Director of the Aultman Cancer Center in Canton Ohio and Professor of Surgery at Northeast Ohio Medical University.

Dr. Mamounas has authored and co-authored over 300 abstracts, peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters and presents nationally and internationally. As part of the NSABP, his clinical research has been funded over the past 20 years by several National Cancer Institute grants and more recently by a Komen for the Cure grant. He has served on editorial boards of several oncology journals and as past associate editor for the Journal of Clinical Oncology. He has been listed in The Best Doctors in America consistently since 2001 and is considered one of the nation’s best cancer physicians.
