Commissioner Samuel Ings, District 6, City of Orlando, is partnering with Unity in Uniform Inc. to hold their 1st Annual joint Crime Prevention Walk and Health Fair on Saturday, August 11, 2012.
Line up and registration for the Crime Prevention Walk will start at 8 a.m. at the Washington Shores Shopping Center’s parking lot, located at 3593 Columbia Street, Orlando, FL 32805.
Participants will receive wrist bands to exchange for backpacks and school supplies. The walk concludes at the Dr. James R. Smith Center, 1723 Bruton Blvd., Orlando, FL 32805, where the health fair will take place from 9am to 12 noon.
School children of all ages that participated in the walk will receive backpacks and school supplies. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in free Health Risk Assessments including blood pressure, glucose checks, EKGs, Speech Therapy screening, Physicals, HIV testing, Hepatitis C education, and CPR demonstrations.
Blood Drive will be from 9am-12noon at the Smith Center.
Unity in Uniform, Inc. is an established non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a resource for disadvantaged youth and adults seeking careers in emergency services or allied health professions while increasing breast cancer awareness in the Central Florida community. Unity In Uniform consists of a diverse group of uniformed professionals that includes paramedics, firefighters, police officers, nurses and other allied health professionals in the Central Florida area.
